７５歳以上の人が運転免許証を更新する場合には、免許更新の申請前に「高齢者講習」の受講と「認知機能検査」の受検とが必要となっています。
高齢者講習の内容は、「安全運転に関する講義」と「運転適性検査」と「実車指導」となります。
認知機能検査の内容は、「今日の年月日、曜日、時間」を書く問題と、「白紙に時計の文字盤を書いて、そこに指示された時間の時と分の針を描く」問題と、「１６個の動物や楽器や野菜などのイラストを４分程度見て覚えておき、用紙を伏せて１分程経ってから何が書かれてあったか思い出して別の用紙に書きだす」という問題があります。
最近認知検査を受けた知人からテキストを借りて問題を解いてみたら、「年月日」と「時計」を書くのは簡単でしたが、１６個のイラストを思い出して書くのは意外と難しくて５、６個ぐらいしか書けませんでした。検査の結果、「認知症の恐れあり」に該当した場合には、医師の診断を受け、診断書の提出が必要になります。
診断書提出の結果、「認知症」であることが判明した時は、免許証の返納又は取消処分を受けることになります。
以前、高齢者大学の英会話教室で、各自３分程度で「自由なテーマ」について英語でスピーチしなさいという授業があったので、私は「免許証の返納」というテーマで原稿を作ってスピーチをしたことがありました。
Whether or not to return my drive license
Now, I live in Osaka city and Mie prefecture half by half.
The main reason is that I like living in the city, but my wife likes living in the countryside.
Now I don’t have a car in Osaka city and I don’t drive a car.
On the other hand, in Mie prefecture I have a car at my home parking lot, and ride a car every day.
The reason is that in Osaka there is no need for a car for everyday life, but in Mie it is difficult to everyday life without a car.
For example, in Osaka within 1km or less than 15-minute walk from my home, there are many supermarkets, convenience stores, hospitals and a library, JR and subway stations, and trains run about every 5 minutes.
However, in Mie there is only 1 convenience store and 1 JR station within 1 km from my home, but the train comes only once or twice an hour.
In Mie there are supermarkets, hospitals, a library, and Kintetsu station 2km away from my house, but it takes about 30 minutes on foot to get there.
As to whether or not to return my drive license in the future,
If I live in a big city, I will like to return my license in the late 70’s.
However, if I live in the country, I think that my license will not be returned until died.
